The commencement of the budget session in the Bengal Assembly was marked by a wave of uproar as the opposition, on Tuesday, presented a pending motion seeking discussion on the CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) report. However, the Speaker rejected the motion, leading to a walkout by BJP MLAs, led by opposition leader Shubhendu Adhikari.
Holding posters and raising slogans against the state government, the BJP members left the House in protest. The CAG report on the state's accounts, sent by the Center, has been a point of contention, with the Chief Minister previously dismissing it as untrue, while the opposition remains steadfast in their demand for discussion. This ongoing dispute spilled into the Assembly on Tuesday, as Shubhendu Adhikari emphasized the opposition's insistence on a thorough examination of the CAG report.
